Glowpoint Network Features

Dedicated to Video Communications

Purpose built - the Glowpoint Network was designed and built to meet the needs and expectations of two-way video users - it is NOT a network that was built for other purposes and modified for video. This is important, because high-quality video demands uninterrupted bandwidth and impeccable Quality of Service (QoS) offering 99.99 percent commitment.

Cisco® Powered Network

Glowpoint is the first dedicated IP-video communications service provider recognized as a Cisco Powered Network. This designation affirms Glowpoint's network design as carrier-grade - secure and able to handle and manage the large bandwidth-intensive traffic generated by video communications.

Multiple-protocol Label Switching (MPLS) Enabled

The Glowpoint Network is a state-of-the-art Multiple Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) backbone with the critical redundancy and reliability businesses demand for their critical applications.

Full Redundancy

The Glowpoint Network is built as a ring with mesh points to provide full redundancy on the backbone. Each Glowpoint Point of Presence (POP) is built with redundant equipment and circuits, allowing Glowpoint to achieve sub-second failover times.

Security

The Glowpoint Network employs a number of security methods to ensure that there is no unauthorized access to the backbone. The network provides layers of security that protect customer traffic and equipment.

24x7 Customized Video Monitoring and Tracking

Glowpoint developed pioneering video network management tools - providing a world-class customer experience. Glowpoint provides 24x7 network surveillance for all core network elements and related network elements as well as customer access connections. In addition, true to a real-time packet application, real-time latency, packet loss, and jitter are tracked constantly to ensure compliance with the Glowpoint Service Level Agreement (SLA) allowing proactive attention to any issues that may occur - before they affect our customers. Glowpoint combines standard network monitoring with customized video testing tools - even using Global Positioning Satellites (GPSs) to create and track key statistics unique to video traffic.

Interoperability

Making video calls to locations not on the Glowpoint Network is as simple as dialing their video number, including those video numbers using legacy ISDN technology. Requiring no complicated access codes - the intelligence built into the Glowpoint Network makes the complex connections invisible. Glowpoint is currently the only service provider to offer unassisted incoming and outgoing gateway services. Glowpoint also conducts an extensive certification program to ensure multi-vendor and technology interoperability.

Flexible Connections

Glowpoint connects customers the way they want to and at the speeds they need. Glowpoint supports SDSL, T1, DS3, ATM, and Ethernet options. Glowpoint also supports H.323, H.320, and SIP. Glowpoint peers with multiple carriers and is not locked into one sole circuit provider so that you can video call anyone - and anyone can reach you - as long as you have each other's video numbers. That includes making calls to and from ISDN video conferencing users. You can also make "best effort" calls to colleagues using the public internet for video.
