Glowpoint Selected to Host Live Video Conference for Lionsgate Films “Peaceful Warrior” Premier
Linked via videoconference will be the film’s stars Nick Nolte, Dan Millman and Scott Mechlowicz, along with special guest motivational speaker Tony Robbins
HILLSIDE, NJ. June 1, 2006 -- Glowpoint, Inc. (OTC:GLOW .PK), the world’s leading broadcast quality, IP-based video managed service provider, announced that it has been selected by Lionsgate Films to host and manage a post-premier multi-party video conference this evening, June 1st, for its new film, “Peaceful Warrior.”
A live, interactive video conferencing event will be held linking viewers of “Peaceful Warrior” with talent from the film and special high-profile guests, including Amy Smart, Dan Millman, and Scott Mechlowicz, in addition to Nick Nolte and renowned motivational speaker Tony Robbins who will both be joining the video conference from international locations. A first of its kind event, Lionsgate Films and Glowpoint will deploy Sony video conferencing units connected over the Glowpoint IP-based video network, linking theaters located in Berkley, Santa Monica, Tempe, Arizona, Seattle, San Diego, and Portland, Oregon. This will create an interactive community discussion of the film and its message following its first ever commercial screening. Producer Mark Amin says “Audiences thus far have responded to this film with incredible enthusiasm in some early screenings, from the average viewer to cultural heavyweights such as Deepak Chopra and Eckhart Tolle. They’ve shown a great desire to discuss it at length. Glowpoint’s technology seems to offer us an excellent opportunity to bring these audiences from distant locations together and share the experience in a totally new way.”
Glowpoint has
installed its high quality video service at each location and will host the
event over its renowned Video-only IP network. During
the event, all the theaters will be displayed on the large movie screen
with the live video being provided by Glowpoint's managed event services. Each
group will be able to see and hear each other over Glowpoint broadcast-quality
video.
Mike Brandofino,
Glowpoint president and CEO says, “We are pleased to be selected by Lionsgate
Films to break new ground in connecting multiple movie theaters in live video
to discuss a movie. This is
another example of Glowpoint expanding the markets where two-way video
communications can be used.” He adds, “This is continuing evidence that our
focus on the broadcast sector is yielding results, and we will continue to look
for new ways to entrench Glowpoint services into all aspects of the sector.”
