Glowpoint Awarded Patent for Video Operator Services
HILLSIDE, N.J. April 11, 2007 Glowpoint, Inc. (OTC:GLOW.PK) announced that it has been awarded its first patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for its Systems and Methods for Live Video Operator Services.
This proprietary Glowpoint technology enables a user to reach a live video operator and receive face-to-face assistance solely by dialing 000. The technology is currently being utilized by a leading financial institution in a successful pilot for a video banking solution. The technology is expected to have a myriad of applications across multiple industries, including the creation of sophisticated video call centers where remotely located experts can provide information, support and even sell products and services from a central facility. This can result in improved customer service and lower operating costs for banks, retailers and other service organizations.
This patent grant is very exciting for the Glowpoint team, stated Glowpoint CEO and president, Michael Brandofino. When we originally developed this technology for use in our own service, the expectation, which we are only beginning to fill, was that we would ultimately leverage it for more expansive business opportunities. With this patented technology, we look forward to exploring these opportunities and expanding our revenue growth.
Glowpoint has made nine filings with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) since 2004. The company has eight remaining filings in process, with the most recent being a provisional patent filed in late 2006. Updates on patents will be provided as they are made available by USPTO.
