Prevention Recommendations
We encourage organizations to act now by reviewing the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Please review Glowpoint's video communications recommendations too.
The CDC has predicted that more communities may be affected, and more severely affected, than were in the spring/summer 2009. (Source: CDC Guidance for Businesses and Employers To Plan and Respond to the 2009–2010 Influenza Season: http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/business/guidance/). According to the CDC one important component of an influenza pandemic plan would be to "explore whether you can establish policies and practices, such as flexible worksites (e.g., telecommuting) and flexible work hours (e.g., staggered shifts), when possible, to increased the physical distance among employees and between employees and others and to ensure that you have the information technology and infrastructure needed to support multiple workers who may be able to work from home."
