How to Connect to TEN

From high-end Telepresence systems to conference room video, and all the way through to desktop video, TEN enables customers to easily “plug” into a high quality, secure platform and perform business-to-business and network-to-network video calling with access to enriched applications and services to expand the use of video.

TEN is available to the telepresence and video community by connecting directly or indirectly via participating IP network carriers. Each method of connecting is designed to cater to your specific network and technology infrastructure:

Endpoint Direct Connect
Telepresence and video users can register and connect their endpoints directly into TEN. There are three options of connecting your endpoint, including:

Overlay Connect - [data sheet]
Glowpoint provides a dedicated, Quality of Service (QoS), managed IP-network video connection directly to each customer site with video endpoints. All video traffic is transported through this dedicated connection, which can be delivered from 512 kbps and up, via the Glowpoint IP-video network. All Glowpoint network overlay customers have access to Glowpoint’s shared infrastructure (e.g. MCUs, gateways, etc.) – plus an automatic connection to TEN – and are equipped with Glowpoint’s unique features and services.

Internet Connect - [data sheet]
For non-telepresence video systems and desktop video conferencing, the native Internet is sometimes considered an acceptable means to communicate with others. However, when those users attempt to communicate via the Internet in to or out of a private enterprise, they often blocked-out because common industry security practices do not allow inbound or outbound video from the Internet. By registering those endpoints with Glowpoint, making connections with private users is made possible and customers have access to Glowpoint’s shared infrastructure (e.g. MCUs, gateways, etc.), and access to Glowpoint’s unique features and services. (Firewall Requirements)

ISDN (PSTN) Connect
Video endpoints that utilize ISDN for their transport can connect to TEN on a call by call basis, whereby each call in or out is routed over TEN’s shared gateway infrastructure. ISDN users can make calls to TEN registered endpoints by simply utilizing the IP endpoint’s E.164 video number or join into a TEN hosted multipoint call using the video conference call meeting number provided by the host.

Business Network Connect (Private enterprise network enabled)
Through the use of network-to-network peering capabilities and relationships already in place with carriers around the world, telepresence and video users can easily register and connect into TEN directly or through their existing carriers:

Enterprise Connect
Glowpoint’s business-to-business video exchange service enables an organization to directly “plug into” TEN with a secure, private peering IP interconnect arrangement. By connecting directly into TEN, enterprises can expand the reach of their infrastructure to cost effectively take advantage of the benefits of B2B video communications. To be quickly connected, enterprises can be equipped with a “meet-me” connection, where their network meets at a Glowpoint access point of presence (PoP) or have the option to have the entire connection provided and managed by Glowpoint.

Carrier Connect (Access through IP Network Carrier)
Many global carriers are already peered with TEN at one or more of Glowpoint’s global interconnection PoP’s. This IP peering arrangement enables immediate access to the global community for enterprises already using one these carriers IP network services.

Contact Glowpoint today to determine if this option is available through your carrier. Carriers not yet peered may contact Glowpoint to establish this capability and access for their customers.
